The first photos of Ofir Engel, who was freed from Hamas captivity along with 11 others on Wednesday, were published on Thursday evening. Engel, 17, is shown with his parents as they made their way by helicopter from the air force base in Hatzerim to Schneider Children’s Hospital. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte welcomed the release of Engel, who holds Dutch citizenship. “I’m delighted and relieved that Ofir Engel has been released by Hamas. After this horrific experience he can now finally be reunited with his family and friends. I’d like to thank Qatar, Egypt and the US for the crucial role they have played. It is vital that all hostages be released as soon as possible,” Rutte wrote on X.
